Multi Spindle

Multi spindle is a method to mass-produce components when every component needs several steps of machining.

A multi spindle lathe feeds material on several spindles at once. If a machine tool has five spindles, material feeds on all spindles simultaneously. Then all five spindles will be machined by different tools at once, before rotating to the next tool. When all five spindles have been worked by the five tools, the component is done.

As several components are machined at the same time, the process is carried out much quicker than if every component is machined individually.
