Stamping is a way to mass-produce components using presses.
Stamping is characterized by a press machine that uses a special-made tool and die. That means the tools are unique for every type of component and consists of an upper part (the tool) and a lower part (the die). When the press presses these two against each other with the piece of material in between, it shapes the component. Stamping either takes away a piece of material or forms (draws) a component similar to the shape of the tools. This can be performed in one or several steps.
As the tools are custom made for each type of component stamping is most suitable for mass production.
