Roll Bending

Roll bending is a method to shape sheet metal into a round shape.

Roll bending changes the shape of sheet metal so that it becomes round. It is carried out in a certain type of rolling machine. A roll bending machine has three rolls; the workpiece passes through having two rolls on one side and one roll on the other side. Doing this turns a flat piece of sheet metal into a round corner. By adjusting the positions of the rolls, the radius can easily be adjusted. Normally this is the way cylindracal components are made. The rollbending machine turns the sheet metal a complete lap whereafter the ends are welded together. Roll bending is a type of rolling.
