Rotational moulding is a method to create various types of hollow plastic products.
Rotational moulding is a method to manufacture hollow products. This is done by adding plastic material into a three-dimensional shape, a mould. Then the mould is rotated by a rotational moulding machine while the machine heats the plastic material so that it melts. When it is molten the plastic material covers the interior walls of the mold. Then it is cooled down and the component can then be extraced from the mold.
Rotational molding has certain advantages over other fabrication of plastic. Among the most important advantages is the ability to make large containers in a relatively simple way. One reason for this is that the mould can be built in plate or by machining, which allows for quite complex shapes of the mould. One downside of this method is that the molding time can be quite long.
There are only a few workshops which do rotational moulding.
